Lejla’s Story: Why can’t they JusT Leave?

Lejla came to the United States as a refugee fleeing a war torn country. Her story is familiar to many refugees who, once here, work extremely hard to make a life for themselves and their families. However, Lejla’s experience of domestic violence lead to her having to leave the security of her home and the stable income she had worked so hard to attain. Like many women who experience domestic abuse, Lejla was forced to start all over again and rebuild an economically and emotionally secure life and home for her children and herself.
