Iris’s Story: Why can’t they just save their money?

Iris stayed in school, completed her education, and got a job as a teacher at an elementary school. As single parent, Iris finds herself unable to save enough money for a home and often finds herself living paycheck to paycheck. She’s done “all the right things”, but remains stuck in the gap between financial hardship and asset-building through homeownership. We are left to wonder what it will take to help her build a better life for her son and herself.
