Angela’s Story: Why Can't They Just Live In A Better Neighborhood?

Angela’s story is one of many that delineates the consequences of redlining and poverty by design. Black and Brown individuals kept from buying and owning homes in the early 20th Century has left historically under-resourced neighborhoods with substandard housing and schools, lack of access to high-quality food, child care and transportation. Angela worked hard to give her kids the best opportunities available to them, but systemic inequities proved to be too difficult to overcome for one of her children.
